| Services
Provided
The Southwestern
Illinois Chapter serves all of Madison County
except the Tri-Cities and Collinsville Township. The
Chapter also has custodial responsibility for Bond and
Calhoun Counties. In FY 2005, 744 volunteers
helped the Chapter deliver its programs and services
to 37,661 people locally. Volunteers
reached 61,750 people on location at
4 National Disaster Relief Operations.
Disaster
Services: Reached 61,750 people,
this includes local disaster assistance, new disaster
volunteers, community disaster education & those
helped by deployment of volunteers to 4
National Disaster Relief Operations. Locally 60
cases were opened with 148 people receiving
emergency food, shelter & clothing.
Health
and Safety: Reached 11,367
people. This includes First Aid/CPR, water safety, AIDS
prevention, & youth programs provided for free to
4,146 children.
Armed
Forces Emergency Services: Assisted 115
local families reaching a total of 230
people while providing emergency communications between
family members and their loved ones in the Armed Forces.
Five servicemen and 2 service
widows and their families were assisted financially.
Blood:
Reached 12,588 people in collecting
voluntary donations of blood at 317
blood drives, making blood available for patient use.
Medical
Assistance: Assisted 679 people
with free prescriptions. Information & referrals
were offered to 2,906 people. This
program is funded by United Way & HUD's Community
Services Block Grant.
MISSION
STATEMENT
The American
Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers
and guided by its Congressional Charter and the International
Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of
disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond
to emergencies.
