We would like to welcome Breanne Carter
to the Southwestern Illinois Chapter. Breanne is with
the AmeriCorps program and is available to teach CPR,
First Aid and conduct disaster presentations at little
or no charge.
AmeriCorps members help the Red Cross schieve its
mission to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond
effectively to emergencies by reaching out to the
underserved populations in the state who often need
safety and health education, but are least likely
to be able to afford the training.
Members teach Red Cross safety and health classes,
including CPR, First Aid, HIV/AIDS Education, Community
Disaster Education and Youth Programs. Focussing on
the unmet needs of communities throughout Illinois,
AmeriCorps regulations define underserved populations
as: youth, minorities, low income and the elderly.
American Red Cross AmeriCorps members teach the following
classes:
Act Smart - ages 6-17
Babysitting - ages 11 and up
Basic Aid Training - ages 8-10
Community Disaster Education - all ages
CPR and First Aid - 7th grade and up
First Aid for Children Today - ages 5-8
First Aid for Little People - ages 5-8
HIV/AIDS Education - all ages
Home Alone - ages 5-12
Scrubby Bear Handwashing - ages Pre-K and Kindergarten
'Til Help Arrives - all ages
